about us

Nearly ten years after opening its permanent home in the creative heart of London, Soho Theatre has established itself as a major new writing theatre and a writers’ development organisation of national significance.  With a programme spanning theatre, comedy and writers’ events and home to a lively bar, Soho Theatre is one of the most vibrant venues on London’s cultural scene.

Whilst constantly developing and moving forward, we remain true to our core missions:

Soho Theatre produces new work
Our pioneering programme combines new plays, comedy, cabaret and writers’ development work which is innovative, intelligent, daring and entertaining.

Soho Theatre discovers and nurtures new writers
Writers are at the heart of the organisation. Our Writers’ Centre develops groundbreaking writers and artists and promotes the best new theatre writing and dramaturgical practice to the theatre sector both in the UK and abroad.

Soho Theatre targets and develops new audiences
Our artistic programme, together with a strong education department, engages with London’s global culture attracting a broad and diverse range of audiences. Soho Theatre’s doors are open to all.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Soho Theatre is one of London’s busiest producing theatres with over 800 performances per year reaching audiences of nearly 100,000.

Soho Theatre owns its own Central London venue housing an intimate 150-seat theatre, a rehearsal and studio space, spaces for writers’ development work and a lively bar and restaurant with a late licence.
